The main features of the ultrafine grinding process of corn starch are as follows:
Particle size reduction: The average particle size (D50) can be reduced to 5 to 25 micrometers, and some particles can even reach the sub-micron level (D90 ≤ 20 micrometers).
The grinding machine can damage the crystalline regions of the starch particles, thereby forming tiny cracks and defects on the surface of the particles.
Low-temperature operation: air classifier mill can be equipped with water cooling or a cooling fan to prevent the starch from caking due to high temperature and maintain its natural color and chemical structure.
Ultrafine ground corn starch has better dispersibility, fluidity and water absorption capacity compared to conventionally ground starch.
